Professional Learning Outiline

In this course, Blended Learning, Meet Project Based Learning, learners will explore incorporating blended learning and project based learning into their instruction. The goal is to support teachers as they shift to a more student-centered learning approach and to build a culture that embraces change. Another goal is to differentiate and personalize the professional development for teachers tailored to their specific learning goals.

By the end of this course, learners should feel confident in their understanding of creating significant learning environments that incorporate choice, ownership, voice and authentic learning. Learners will be able to successfully apply these concepts with their students and implement blended learning and project based learning.
The 5 key principles of effective professional learning will be present in all areas of this course.
Duration:
For teachers to implement new strategies, professional learning must be significant and ongoing. Teachers will learn about blended learning and project based learning over the course of 6 months. It will take several months allowing a greater impact.Time to apply blended learning and project based learning will be provided in the classroom.
The duration of this course will be 6 months. Learners will meet monthly in person. In addition, 30 minute online modules will be offered to teachers with choices each month. Also, grade level teams will meet monthly during PLC time to plan projects. Mentors will be provided for support during the implementation phase and as needed.

Support:
Teachers will support each other through collaborating during PLCs. They will also have a mentor to support them during
implementation and as needed. Mentors can meet for one on one discussions and coaching. They will also guide collaborative groups through the PBL planning process.

Engagement:
The learning process will be active where teachers are creating authentic learning for their students by creating a PBL and incorporating blended learning into their instruction. Teachers will be given time to plan during PLCs and monthly meetings. The learning will be active and collaborative. There will be opportunities for different grade levels to walk and talk to see other projects and group ideas.
Modeling:
When teachers meet in person for their monthly PD, leaders will model PBL and blended learning during the meeting.
Mentors/leaders will also be available for modeling in the classrooms. Teachers will be allowed time to go observe other teacher's classrooms to see how they are implementing PBL and blended learning into their classrooms.

Discipline Specific:
Grade level teams will work together to create specific PBL and blended learning models for their grade level and content area. This PL will focus on upper elementary grades, 3-5. The second phase will include K-2. Collaboration groups will get to choose the subject for their PBL project. The PBL can be cross-curricular, incorporating two subjects are all.
